Sunday Worship Time Changes September 12   Our worship time is still at 9:15 next Sunday, September 5.  HOWEVER, on the 12th we return to our “school year” time of 10:15 (and Cable TV time of 11:30).

Also on the 12th, our Christian education year unfolds with the theme, “Fingerprints of Faith” and we are eager to welcome 3 year olds through 12th graders back to Sunday School!  Please let us

know in the church office (423-5100) if you have a friend that would also like to participate in our Sunday School program.  They are all welcome to attend.  Also coming on Sundays in September:

September 12During the worship service, our 3 year olds will be welcomed to Sunday School and given their Prayer Pillows; and our teaching and rally leader staff will be installed.

September 19During the worship service, our 2nd graders will

receive their copy of Luther’s Small Catechism.

September 26 During the worship service, Bibles will be presented to our 2 year olds,  2nd graders, 7th graders,  and any new 3 year olds through 1st graders who haven’t received their Bible from the congregation previously.

Senior Choir Rehearsals Begin September 8, at 7:45!  See you there!    If you have sung with the choir in the past, or are interested in singing with us this fall, please come to our first fall rehearsal on Wednesday, September 8, at 7:45 p.m.  We share music, laughter, jokes, prayer concerns, joys and sorrows together!  What a great group of Christian friends!

Outdoor Winter Clothing Collection    Christ Lutheran will again be a collection site for winter coats, gloves, mittens, hats, scarves, ... through Western Community Action’s “Coats for Kids” program.  A box will be placed in the front entry at church.  You may start bringing items any time.  If the collection box is not there, please put them on the benches by the front windows.

Block Party – September 19 - 4 p.m.  All six of our newly created Small Group “Blocks” met for their initial gatherings, and from many reports, the opportunity to meet and play with one another was very well-received!  About 100 people took part in these gatherings!  Several of you mentioned that this “is just what we need to do!”  Others said, “I’m so happy that I got to know so-and-so better.”   Thanks be to God that these groups provided such wonderful times of Christian fellowship.  We anticipate that Blocks will continue to meet on occasion in the future, with the hope that bonds of friendship will be nurtured, and times for conversation and growth will be provided. BUT . . . the Small Group Blocks are only a prelude to the bigger, more amazing, indescribably fun, family-friendly ALL BLOCK PARTY to be held on Sunday afternoon, September 19, beginning at 4:00. There will be games, talent, food and excitement for everyone!!  We hope that the weather will be favorable and this event will be held outside on the church grounds.  Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend.  Stay tuned for more details as the date approaches!  Go and mark your calendars right away to save the date!

Lutheran World Relief responds to massive flooding in Pakistan

LWR needs to raise $200,000 by September 15.  Financial donations may be given through Christ Lutheran by putting a clear Memo, “For LWR Pakistan” on a check made out to Christ Lutheran Church, and/or by so labeling an envelope with check or cash enclosed.   Thank you for your gift.

Prayer Garden Update  As many of you know, our congregation has been planning a prayer garden behind our church building and in a beautiful setting overlooking the lake.  We would like to continue to move this project forward, and Craig and Denise Aamodt will coordinate our efforts to accomplish that goal.

We are wondering if any of you would like to help in the preparation of the ground for pavers to be laid, and to perhaps actually place those pavers.

Although we have already received generous gifts given from the hearts of our members, we also will need additional funds to complete the project  Would you consider making a contribution toward this work in honor of, or in memory of someone?

Please notify Craig Aamodt or the church office if you are interested in lending your hands and time and energy for the completion of this project.  Thanks so much!

Lifelight Music Weekend Are you interested in a weekend of great music by Christian bands?  There is an opportunity to experience just that in Worthing, South Dakota, from September 3-5.  One of our members, Kari Louwagie, attended this music festival last year and enjoyed it so very much that she has convinced her family to go along with her this year!  (Contact her for a personal testimonial!) There is no charge for admission, although there may be fees for parking, and an offering may be taken.   There is a campground nearby if your family or group of friends is interested in camping overnight.  The event is family friendly, and all ages are welcome. Go to Lifelight.org for more information.
